Are you going to ICPA’s Annual Conference in Miami this month? If so, you are probably already deciding what to pack and what sessions to attend. Do not miss the session entitled, “Understanding Drawback” being held on Wednesday, March 15th at 11:15am in the Flagler Room of the Hyatt in downtown Miami. Why? Because our own Brenda Sweetman will be presenting this session and Michael Kerlen will be joining her there. Both Brenda and Michael are Vice Presidents with our company and longtime veteran Drawback Specialists. They can often be found speaking on the topic of drawback at industry events throughout the year.
This presentation is being offered during the Repeats track and will review the basics of the drawback program as operational today. However, the session will also note the updates to the drawback law, 19 USC 1313, which are pending approval of new regulations by the end of 2017. After those regulations are approved, CBP plans to begin implementation of the new law on February 24, 2018 – two years after the passage of the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act (TFTEA) which brought about these changes.
